A vehicle consists of a design which is developed by our designers, then printed on special vinyl wrap and laminated, and finally installed or “wrapped” on a vehicle. The wrap is applied directly to the vehicle. The application is so precise it is often mistaken for a custom paint job.
There are three parts to the vehicle wrap process. Before a wrap can be printed the design and layout must be decided upon. Once the design is approved it moves to the print/production step. The final step is the installation of the graphics on your vehicle/s. In some cases there is another step which would be removal of the graphics once your campaign is over.
A size of the wrap (Full, ½ or ¼) simply refers to the percentage of the car that is covered by the wrap.
Yes, but only rear side and rear windows. Window wraps are printed on a special perforated vinyl that allows the driver to see through the rear and side rear windows.
Either option is available. We can provide design services for you for a design fee typically running $250-$400 with client supplied elements (logos/text/photos/etc.). In this case, our in-house designers work with the client throughout the process to ensure that the message conveyed in the design accurately and appropriately reflects that of the company, product or person. Final proofs, mockups and explanations are always reviewed prior to sending the job to print.
If you have your own design capabilities we can provide you with vehicle templates and specifications for the artwork, free of charge, so that you can provide us with your completed design ready to print.
It is important to remember the purpose of a vehicle wrap is advertising. Your vehicle becomes a moving billboard in which your audience has approximately 3 seconds to receive your message. Dynamic graphics with minimal text is ideal. Vehicle wraps are not meant to replace a custom paint job.
This is the critical part of the vehicle wrap process. Communication is essential to ensure your vehicle wrap is designed properly per your needs. A complete understanding of the overall project is a must. The design must be done taking into account that the images used need to be high resolution. File types must be adhered to per our specifications and the wrap design must be properly scaled to the vehicle. We encourage our clients to focus on the purpose of the vehicle wrap. We have found that simple but deliberate design works best.
We can assist you in designing a complete wrap from concept to completion which includes dealing with all of the high resolution artwork. We charge a $25 fee per High-resolution image which you choose but we supply. If requested the purchased image can be burned to a CD for your use later.
High-resolution artwork is also available and can be purchased through various sources online.
Once the design is approved we print the graphics on one of our digital printers. Our machines are housed in a completely clean, climate controlled environment which insures the highest quality and consistency. If requested we will send you a printed proof prior to printing the entire job for a small fee. This is recommended when matching color is critical.
Our onsite printing department and staff ensures the accurate transfer of the images through its advanced art print server. The large format printers are fitted with state of the art ink systems insuring the best color schemes and resolution available in the industry. We have carefully chosen the media we print on, which has been time tested for use in vehicle wraps.
From the time that the design is completed and approved by our client, a wrap can be printed and installed within 10 business days, sometimes less depending on circumstances. If design is also provided add an additional two weeks for the design process.
Our wraps are typically completed in 1-2 days, depending on the size of the vehicle and intricacy of the wrap. Time estimates are given to our customers prior to beginning the installation process.
Our installers are put through a rigorous apprentice program before they are given the title of expert installer. Once they have reached this level, they are capable of handling the most intricate design wrap installations. The vinyl material is accurately laid out and applied to the vehicle – the actual process is extremely precise, requires a lot of experience and is difficult to explain in writing.
Installation can be handled a couple ways. We recommend that you bring the vehicle to 317 Signs and Wraps as we have a 5000 sq ft installation facility located at 5348 Victory Drive. Suite A, Indianapolis, IN 46203.
A controlled environment is extremely important to quality of the finished product. Wind, rain, extreme temperatures, dirt, etc. all contribute to the breakdown of the install process.
If you have an indoor location available that fits the needs for installation or we are doing a fleet we can send installers directly to you to complete the installation on site. If you are further than an hour from the closest installer an additional trip charge may apply.
Our wraps will normally outlast the vehicle. You can expect to get 2-3 years and longer out of the wrap provided proper care is given to the graphics and you’re careful about high pressure washing. The graphics are very durable but they aren't bulletproof. If they stayed on perfectly for years and years you'd never get them off. Wraps will have lifting in tight areas and where there aren't large surface areas for the material to adhere to. This is completely normal wear and it will happen with any material used.
Hand washing is best. Avoid high pressure washes and be careful never to use an ice-scraper. Sweeping off windows with a soft broom and rear defroster will cause no damage to your window wrap.
We offer a 3 year manufacturer warranty on our vehicle wraps for material applied to oem painted surfaces and one year for material applied to window surfaces.
Yes. The wrap can be removed. However, attempting to remove it yourself may cause damage to your paint. We suggest having one of our professional installers de-install your vehicle wrap as our installation experts are best equipped this task.
No. In all of our experiences, the only time a vehicle’s paint may be affected is in the case of a poor repaint job. Factory paint, in 99.0% of instances, is not affect by our wraps. If you have factory paint in good condition at the time of application, there will be no damage to the paint. But if your vehicle has paint that is oxidized, cracked, peeling or has been repainted due to age or accident, the paint may damaged upon removal.
Yes. Graphics, logos, and phone numbers (or any part of the design) can be changed, reprinted and re-installed as overlays on the car wrap.
Generally, no. A full vehicle wrap covers all the painted surfaces of a vehicle (roof when requested) and is an opaque material. Areas such as chrome bumpers, grilles and trim are not covered. Therefore, color generally does not matter.
In the case of a partial wrap we would take into account your vehicles color to either become a part of the design or to ensure the partial wrap will be seen clearly over the color.
However, if you have a light vehicle and a dark wrap, edges and hinges may be slightly visible after installation. Same is true for the opposite. Please also keep in mind that window wrap coverage is subject to local and state regulations.
Sure, majority of the vehicles we wrap are leased or rented for specific campaigns whether they be short or long term. The wrap can easily be removed without any damage at the end of the lease or rental term.
No. Our company designs, prints and wraps vehicles for businesses looking to advertise on their vehicles.
Absolutely, we have wrapped buildings, windows, boats, storefronts, quads, golf carts and large machinery. If the surface to wrap has enough adhesion for the vinyl, a wrap is possible.
